Kigali Half-Marathon, formerly known as “20km de Kigali” is a road race organized by the City of Kigali in partnership with the Rwanda Athletic Federation aiming at promoting the City of Kigali through sports while also promoting the sports culture. One of the long time known sports event, the “20km de Kigali”, now termed as “Kigali Half-Marathon” is an athletic competition where participants run 21,0975 km around Kigali.
It also has an aim of promoting athletics races by identifying new talents, as the distance run is not very long, and also to help people adopt a sport’s culture. The competition was scheduled to 15 December 2019 from 8:00 am to 10: am on the road from Amahoro stadium to the City Centre.
The competition participants came from across the country to run a distance of 21km around Kigali not only the Rwandans also some foreigner participated in the marathon. The starting points was from Amahoro stadium, and the finishing line was set at Kimihurura roundabout next to Rwanda Revenue Authority headquarters.
In men category the marathon was won by NUMUBONA Yves followed by MUTABAZI Emmanuel while in women category YANKURIJE Maritha was the Champion of the race followed by MUSABYEYESU Adeline.
